Specimen requirement:
Type: SST TUBE
It is recommended that a standardized 12hr-post dose serum lithium concentration be used to assess adequate therapy. Peak concentration is reached 2 to 4 hours after oral dosing.
Specimen preparation: Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis.
Storage/Transport: REFRIGERATED
Stability: Lithium samples are stable for one week when stored at 2 - 8?C and stable indefinitely when frozen <-20°C. |
