Collect: 33 ml urine
- Specimen Preparation:
1) Perform urine collection at the physician's office in a sterile urine specimen container, volume greater than or equal to 33ml.
2) Mix voided urine with Preservative 2:1 (33 ml urine and 17 ml preservative.
Acceptable preservatives: Carbowax, ThinPrep, PreservCyt or CytoLyt).
3) Transfer to a 50ml centrifuge tube or plastic container, seal it tightly to prevent leakage.
4) Ship sample immediately, if not, refrigerate immediately and ship overnight within 24 hours.
Preferred shipment is on ice but specimens can be shipped at temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius. Specimen should be processed to fixed cell pellets within 72 hours of collection.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Stability: Refrigerated 72 hours
Comment: Specimen collection date and time is required.
